How should shapewear fit?
The short answer
Firm but comfortable for a full day: you should be able to sit, breathe deeply and move without it rolling, pinching or leaving deep marks, and if it does any of those, it is the wrong size.
Shapewear works through panel placement and even compression across the garment, not by squeezing as hard as possible. Sized on your real measurements, it smooths under clothes; sized down, it rolls, digs in and ends up in a drawer.
Size on measurements, not on hope
Measure your waist at the narrowest point and your hips at the widest. Match both to the size chart. Between sizes, go up: the smaller size is the one that rolls at the waist and thigh.
Pick by where you want the smoothing
High-waist briefs and shorts work from the waist to the upper thigh. Bodysuits smooth from bust to hip under fitted dresses. Thigh shorts stop chafing and smooth the leg line.
Questions people actually ask
Straight answers
Is shapewear supposed to hurt?
No. Pain, numbness or trouble breathing means it is too small. The right size feels like a firm hug you forget about after an hour.
Can I wear shapewear every day?
Many people do, in the right size. Give your skin a break overnight and choose breathable fabrics for long days.
